When someone is singing purely with no vocal strain allowing the voice to just flow out without worrying about applause, with out striving for attention, without trying to sound like someone else, without trying to win a contest, etc… it has more power than the conscious mind can really perceive, just pure beautiful sound vibration touching others on a soul level, cutting through time and space.
This is beautifully shown in the wonderful epic film “Australia” directed and written by Baz Luhrmann.
Nullah is a mixed blood aboriginal boy taken in by Lady Sarah Ashley after his mother dies. In his culture, their is a belief that everything is connected by song, as explained by “King George” the Shaman of his tribe. as explained by one of the characters in the film when they have to take a three-day trek through the desert to find water.get seperated through circumstances far beyond their control, Nullah stays connected to her through song and navigates his way back home. And always on parting says “I Will Sing You to Me”.
I don’t want to create a spoiler here…but in the end you will see how powerful this is.
